While Simple Green products may be non-toxic and bio-degradable, many of the manufacturer's products contain 2-butoxyethanol (also known as butyl or 2-butyl) which is a dangerous solvent. Butyl is listed as an OSHA Table Z Hazardous Substance. According to the National Toxicology Program (NTP), animal testing indicates chronic exposure could result in blood disorders, liver damage, and nervous system effects. The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program has identified 2-butoxyethanol as having potential effects on blood the central nervous system kidneys and liver. And if you aren't concerned about your body and the potential health risks that you may be exposing yourself to with repeated exposures through weekly cleanings, this stuff goes down the drain and enters our municipal water system and watersheds. Please help your readers NOT fall victim to "greenwashing" (false or exaggerated claims about a product's health or environmental benefits). Please don't tout Simple Green as eco-friendly. Just because it won't kill you or because it bio-degrades, doesn't make it a good product! It may be green in color, but it's not "green" by recognized standards. That's the simple truth about Simple Green. Sincerely, Cloud Conrad - VP of Marketing, Maid Brigade.

Your focus is more of companies selling green products. How about companies that promote "green corporate culture". Are there such companies around. What are the "green corporate culture" they are promoting?

In response to the comment by RunningCloud, thank you for pointing out that there are standards and strict guidelines that a company must adhere to in order to actually have eco-friendly products. We've already brought an eco-certified line of sports balls (basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, and more) to market that are certified Fair Trade. Stop by our blog at www.fairtradesports.com if you care to learn more.

Thanks for all of the great info. And Ben, I completely agree...Green corporate culture may not even exist. It is the smaller companies that are really the leaders in the green revolution. One product I find excellent is the Fur-Zoff. It removes pet hair from fabric and is made from recycled materials. They sell them at http://www.furzoff.net for about $10.
